The Dickens Suite is the Assembly Rooms' primary cultural venue: a 250–300 capacity ground-floor space purpose-built for high-frequency programming — comedy nights, theatre, film screenings and festivals. It's named for the venue's flagship Dickens Festival North, anchored by Gerald Dickens (great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens), and hosts a rotating calendar that spans Shakespeare-inspired theatre, family tribute shows, and weekly comedy and cabaret. Positioned directly on Newcastle's tour bus route with its own street entrance, the Dickens Suite is where the Assembly Rooms' cultural programme comes to life for the widest audience.
